Welcome to Kazakhstan-Birding
Machiel Valkenburg (25) is a full-time birdwatcher living in Kazakhstan. Residing
in Tuzdybastau, a small village 7 km east of the big metropolis Almaty located in
the south-eastern part of Kazakhstan. Coming from a small country as Holland, with
his crowded cities and small scattered nature. The counterpart of this all is Kazakhstan,
one of the largest countries in the world, with more natural treasures than anyone
can imagine.
Full-time birdwatcher means that I am co-founder of Central Asia Birding, a company
that completely focuses on bird watching and nature holidays to Central Asia. This
job results that I travel widely in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the other, smaller,
states of Central Asia. This web site is dedicated to promote Kazakhstan in general
and to have an up to date site with observations being made all over Kazakhstan.
I will try to post my own sightings regular, most of them being made in my ‘garden’.
With my garden I mean the hills, laying directly, behind the house I am occupying
currently. I am happy to receive all data and publications relating to the avifauna
of Kazakhstan, your help will be much appreciated.
